Scholastic, Maumelle, AR - Federal worked closely with them on implementing a conveying system and installation of a horizontal baler. This equipment replaced an old down stroke vertical baler that was fed by hand. Under this former system, the majority of the scrap OCC was going into their dumpster, and ultimately, the landfill. The new system now captures ALL of the scrap corrugated material which resulted in tripling the volume of recyclable material.
Additionally, the new baling system caused a significant decrease in potential safety hazards, as the corrugated scrap that was previously being staged in the aisle ways could instantly be placed on the conveyor system for immediate baling. Another important advantage of the baling system was the reduced potential bodily injuries that were caused by unsafe ergonomic conditions, with the bending, twisting, and lifting of material multiple times.
We also worked with Scholastic, Maumelle on a system to capture and destroy returned items that were formerly being land-filled.
