Von Hoffman, Owensville, MO - During an assessment inspection, Federal observed poly laminated book covers and trim being disposed of in the company's trash compactor. Samples of the material were taken and sent to potential consuming mills. Within days, FI worked with Owensville personnel to divert the "trash poly covers" to a nearby FI recycling processing facility. Poly laminated book covers are now being recycled at the rate of 880 tons per year, adding $6,000 annually to the plant's recycling revenue while reducing trash disposal cost by more than $50,000/year. Total revenue plus cost reduction from the additional 880 tons of recyclables annual is $56,000+ (est).
